Swimsuits & Cover-Ups: Bikini Tops: Sport Is the Shift — Not the Trend

I don’t think this is a trend anymore. It’s a reset.
You can see it everywhere — from the way girls are dressing post-run straight into coffee shops, to that barely-there surf energy that showed up across Spring 2026 resort runways. No one’s changing outfits three times a day. You want pieces that move with you, hold you in, and don’t fall apart the second you actually do something. That’s exactly why sport bikini tops are taking over. They’re not trying to be pretty. They just end up looking better.
I keep going back to Beach Riot’s Milana Sports Bikini Top. The crochet feels unexpected, but the fit is solid — and that Aqua Haze color mix hits like you planned the look without overthinking it. I’d wear it with old-school track shorts, a zip hoodie, and wet hair. No styling beyond that.
If you want something more refined, L*Space’s Ace Bikini Top is the one. The square neckline gives it structure, the tangerine and pink trim keep it sharp. I’d throw it on with oversized linen trousers and a button-down left open — the kind of outfit that works whether you swim or not.
Then there’s Mikoh Swimwear’s Queensland 2 Bikini Top in Royal. One shoulder, no padding, bold color — it feels like you’re actually going to dive into the water, not just hover near it. And the Noir version is even better if you want something stripped back. Clean, minimal, slightly severe.
I like how LPA’s Drizella Top plays with contrast. Polka dots, lace — it leans vintage — but the cut keeps it grounded. It still behaves like a sport piece, which is the whole point right now.
For a softer angle, Beach Riot’s Taryn Bikini Top gives you structure without feeling rigid. It’s what I’d wear for a slower morning — early swim, coffee after, nothing rushed.
And even the more classic options — like Lovers and Friends’ Adrift Top or the Kailani Top — still work in this space. It’s not about whether it’s technically “sport.” It’s about how you wear it now. Less styled. More instinctive.
That’s really the shift. You don’t build an outfit around the bikini top anymore. You just put it on and go. Loose pants, denim cutoffs, a cap, maybe sneakers. Maybe nothing.
Beach Riot, L*Space, and LPA are pushing that hybrid, wear-it-anywhere energy. Mikoh Swimwear keeps it clean and directional. Lovers and Friends softens it, makes it feel easy.
But all of it comes back to one thing: you’re dressing for movement again.
And swim finally caught up.
